CKS Northern Uganda!

The HOPE Team - Wednesday, April 18, 2012

This morning we woke to the resident rooster's crow (well..multiple crows actually!) to find life all around us. The domestic sheep, piglets, and cows formed a country backdrop for the daily chores. Fires were prepared to cook the students' meals, cauldrons of porridge were stirred, and water was pumped into jerry cans. The students arrived about 8am and the vast school grounds filled with red and blue uniforms. Thousands of eager learners from early primary age through to TAFE students, and an awe-inspiring staff of committed teachers.

Our teachers taught demonstration lessons in reading and writing; our medical professionals spent time in the clinic and hospice. After school hours we conducted teacher training workshops in literacy and hygiene. The school principal is very excited about our partnership and is looking forward to the week's activities.
